Ely experienced a very long and cold winter that we are all thankful is over, we think. It did snow this morning, but it was a Spring snow fling you just know won't last. The flowers (daffodils being some of the first) are evidence that Spring is here as sure as the Walleye opener last week. The Minnesota fishing opener was very successful as evidenced by the Walleye filets enjoyed by our family at the skilled hands of Captain Ron Perttula. Captain Ron is one of the best Basswood fishing guides in Ely. He, like Basswood Lake, always (well, there was this one time...) produces a fine catch of Walleyes.
