Summer in Ely has finally begun. We almost missed Spring in Ely this year with a very late snow fall and cool weather until recently. The early Ely fishing season was fantastic and reports of large walleyes being caught regulaly continue. The Ely Minnesota webcam popularity continues to grow. We have just passed a usage milestone with demand for the webcam images exceeding the capacity of two T-1 lines. We will be moving the image servers to fiber which should help the download speeds.

How Do Bears Make Friends?
A very unique event was witnessed, photographed, and captured on video at the new North American Bear Center here in Ely. The following article, by Dr. Lynn Rogers explains what occurred. The video of this event is being shown at the Bear Center this winter.
